Multi-stakeholder review of HIV prevention and outreach model

London HIV Prevention Programme (LHPP)

The London HIV Prevention Programme (LHPP) commissioned FIPP to help it make evidenced-decisions on the future of its health promotion and outreach services across London. The FIPP collaborative process gave LHPP Board members the opportunity to work directly with commissioning, provider and community stakeholders, providing a common understanding of the challenges facing HIV prevention in London. The process pinpointed key priorities, established practical aims, fostered renewed partnerships, while supporting the Board to devise a clear action plan for implementing change.

Rapid workforce development for Lambeth drugs and alcohol services

Lambeth Council

In a proactive response to the government's 'From Harm to Hope' strategy, Lambeth Council enlisted FIPP to execute an independent scoping and engagement process, designed to understand the needs of key stakeholders. Involving several confidential, semi-structured interviews, the FIPP process revealed a wealth of insight into the specific challenges and opportunities prevalent among commissioners and providers within Lambeth. Insights resulted in practical recommendations, which were shared with, and worked upon with the client. The results of this collaborative process are now being used to inform conversations and guide the creation of a workforce development plan within Lambeth.

Evaluating health services using Mystery Shoppers

East London Councils

Mystery Shoppers have proved to be effective evaluators of sexual health services in South East and East London. They provide unvarnished, detailed and constructive feedback on service provision, which can be used to plan service improvements. The FIPP team recruit and manage the mystery shoppers. We work collaboratively with commissioners and providers to agree the evaluation focus and facilitate the sharing of feedback, aiming to agree service improvements that work for all – service users, providers and commissioners. Stakeholders value the process as Mystery Shoppers are recruited from the local community, paid to use services anonymously, investigating a pre-specified scenario. Run twice across East London boroughs (2018 and 2022), the mystery shopping project offers a long-term view of sexual health service experience to commissioners and service providers.

Co-creating solutions for improved sexual health services
Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham

Lambeth Southwark and Lewisham commissioning team partnered with FIPP to better understand local residents' needs and shape the future of access to services. This evidence-based method culminated in a jointly constructed proof-of-concept digital tool to improve access and satisfaction. For this comprehensive programme, FIPP designed and delivered a three-phase engagement and co-creation process, involving senior commissioners, providers, local residents, and voluntary groups. In depth interviews and surveys highlighted the difficulties that residents had in accessing local services. Co-creation workshops brought residents, providers and commissioners together to design a digital access tool to enhance service awareness and help citizens find the best service for them. Co-production workshops with professional stakeholders surfaced the challenges involved in developing and delivering the tool. And devised a plan for implementation.
